Manager (Technical Engineering)
Major Responsibilities
- Lead the technical management of system and network infrastructure, cloud management platform infrastructure and delivery of assigned cloud platform projects
- Act as the domain subject matter expert (SME) as the system owner to manage and maintain the system components / domains and the infrastructure of private cloud platform including product lifecycle management, evergreening, capacity planning, troubleshooting, reporting, etc.
- Work closely with cloud operation team to ensure the operation of the managed system components / domains is well in place and operated, also provide technical advice to support the cloud operation team for any incident or technical troubleshooting
- Act as technical project manager to manage and implement the projects to meet the project timeline with qualitied technical deployment, and follow the Company’s project governance framework including project planning, issue or risk logging and project closure handling
- Collaborate with architecture, operation, security, and application teams to define and enforce cloud platform and related system standards and governance; and support DevOps team for cloud or operational automation using DevOps tool to implement infrastructure-as-code (IaC) and Security-as-Code (SaC)
- Drive continuous improvement on the cloud platform’s availability, performance, security posture and operation efficiency, including the evaluation of new technologies if needed
- Develop documentation, playbooks, and runbooks for cloud platform infrastructure, the system and network infrastructure operations and incident response if needed
- On-call for emergency production incidents and provide onsite fire-fighting support and perform shift duties as required
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor(s)
Requirements
- University degree in information technology, computer science or related discipline
- Minimum 8 years of relevant experience preferably gained from financial institutions, with at least 5 years’ experience on technical managerial level
- Solid technical experience in setup and managing the related subject domain expert areas (either one of the domain aspects)
- Cloud system infrastructure: Windows and Linux Operation system, shared service infrastructure includes Directory services, DNS, backup, monitoring, logging, SMTP relay, patching system, licensing server, storage system, . Experience in cloud platform infrastructure like OpenStack is preferred
- Network/Security: Network equipment and routing, load balancing, VPN gateway, firewall, IDS/IPS, Web Application Firewall, Software Defined Network (SDN), and Content Delivery Network
- Container platform: Kubernetes with associated platform components like Helm, Grafana and Prometheus, Cloud Workload Protection, Terraform, Ansible, ArgoCD/Flux, GitOps, GitHub and Hashicorp, etc.
- Knowledge on technical project delivery including new build solution, technology refreshment and transition from project to operation
- Familiar with ITSM process, IT governance framework and IT compliance standards in financial industry is preferred
- Ability to use analytical, innovative and structured approach to problem solving, with the sense for pragmatism, common sense and self-starter mentality
- Positive attitude and strong commitment to the delivery of quality work
- Good presentation, documentation and report writing skills
- Good command of written and spoken English and Chinese, with proficiency in Putonghua an advantage
